Rising tensions (25)

The agony of the West

by Thierry Meyssan*

(29 July 2022) Sergey Lavrov used to compare the West to a wounded predator. According to him, it should not be provoked because it would be taken by madness and could break everything. It is better to accompany it to the graveyard. The West does not see it that way. Washington and London are leading a crusade against Moscow and Beijing. They roar and are ready for anything. But what can they really do?

Western arms deliveries and sanctions are not moral, but stupid

For responsible politicians here is only one option: peace negotiations

by Jürgen Todenhöfer*

(29 July 2022) Actions are moral – liberally based on Immanuel Kant – when a righteous person thinks they should apply to the whole world. How are the arms deliveries to Ukraine to be assessed under this aspect?

Open Nord Stream 2!

by Oskar Lafontaine*

(29 July 2022) I can no longer listen to the whining of Steinmeier, Scholz and others about the social upheavals that will occur when the price of gas triples. If you can only get energy from states like the U.S., Saudi Arabia or Qatar and Russia, which are accused of waging wars in violation of international law, then you should give preference to the supplier that has the best and cheapest goods. Norway: Biometric digital identity is coming

by Thomas Oysmüller*

(11 July 2022) Norway is abolishing its old digital registration system and is rolling out a digital identity that will be linked to biometric data.

G7 and the rest of the world

China and the “new G8” in America’s sights

by Wolfgang Effenberger*

(11 July 2022) While the merciless war in Ukraine was once more gaining momentum, the heads of state and government of the US, the UK, Canada, Germany, Japan, Italy and France met at the idyllic Bavarian castle of Elmau from 26 to 28 June 2022. Representing the European Union, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and EU Council President Charles Michel attended the G7 Summit on all three days.
