While the ease with which violent movements can develop can be attributed to social networks, the increasing number of these movements is more likely caused by the growing mistrust of the population towards the authorities and “those who officially know”.

Leading business representatives say: “the substance of our industry is threatened”1 or: “we are simply getting poorer. I’ll draw you a picture for Germany and I wouldn’t be surprised if we end up 20 to 30 percent poorer.”2 The conservative “Handelsblatt” newspaper speaks of a threat of deindustrialisation of Germany.3
